Have you read "Overhearing the Gospel" by Fred Craddock? His premise is a quote by (I think) Kirkegard about how there is no lack of information in our modern world, and so people have heard the message. We have to get it into a context that will communicate on a different level, and we should be thinking as we prepare to preach not just about the words we will say, but the way we will deliver them.
I just found that interesting - and true.
