Need a conversational donut to dunk with your coffee at Timmy Ho's this morning? Here's a quote to discuss from Dr. Meadors' book, Decision Making God's Way.
“The problem is that we do not have a means to detect when an internal conviction is from conscience, the Spirit, or our own desires. That is why we need an objective procedure to make decisions that are based on the validation of our understanding of the Bible and the worldview and values set we claim. This is not as comfortable or as safe as having a direct revelatory process, but it is a process that God has designed to develop us as persons created in his image.” p. 184
Dunkin' donuts like these,

Seems like a contradiction of terms in the quote. We need an "objective" procedure yet the things he lists to use are somewhat subjective. Our "understanding" of the Bible, a Biblical World View, and our value set. Our understanding of the Bible is constantly changing as we study and the Holy Spirit reveals things to us and therefore our world view and our value set.
Dad, please note that the source of objectivity is the Bible. Our understanding , our worldview, our values set are only validated when compared against the objectivity of the Word. If we jettison the Word, then all understandings, all worldviews, all values are equal and relative.
Our understanding of the Word does change, our world views often get tweaked with mods to our value set. But as we validate these decision makers by constantly searching teh word, we find the answer that we need.
Thanks for blogging,
Mike
