Are You Diluted?

"Like fine wine poured into a jug of water, Jesus' wondrous message of grace gets diluted in the vessel of the church."

What's So Amazing About Grace, p. 29

I don't have to know too much about wine to get this comment. I want a vintage church (in terms of wine excellence, not in terms of musty fermentation). I want a vintage life! We will serve no wine before its time. May it be said of me, "You have saved the best wine until last".

I usually save the best wine to go along with a nice filet mignon....that's just me though.

Anyways, how does saving your best wine for last fit in with the guy who got scolded for not using the coins he was given? What if by saving it, you never get to use it?

Maybe I missed the point you were trying to make...Better lay of the wine!

Well actually Thad,
I was referring to the miracle at Cana. When Jesus performed His miracle the complaint was that the best wine (the stuff Jesus made) was the best. It was the best because He was involved. The practice of bringing a better wine at the end of the wedding was not customary. It was counter-cultural. I'll take that too. I do not want to continue serving diluted wine.
I am not planning on waiting until the perfect time to serve. I am planning on maintaining the potency and sweetness of my service for Christ.
And laying off the wine might be a good idea. :)

fine wine and filet mignon? Thad must have gotten a raise! Often I find that Christians(myself included) tend to become diluted by allowing worldly philosophy to invade their minds through the media and not being filled with the Word of God. Maybe thats why we are constantly being reminded to renew our minds throughout the NT.
